RJM is presenting and exhibiting at Turkey’s International Energy and Environment Fair and Conference, Hall 1 Booth G19 Under the overall theme for 2024, “Discover the Future of Energy”, Steve Billett, RJM’s Head of Projects will be presenting a paper demonstrating how RJM’s innovative combustion technologies are now being applied to power generators to deliver a step change in performance improvements and reduced emissions. With Turkey committed to achieve net zero by 2053, energy producers and other large industrial plants are now beginning to implement their own mitigation and adaption actions and seeking external support from international industry experts such as RJM to deliver them. RJM is currently actively supporting one of the largest power generators in Turkey as well as other large combustion plant. RJM is sharing the Booth G19 with its partner in Turkey, BGM Engineering, one of the country’s leading EPC contractors in the Power, Oil & Gas sectors. RJM is presenting and exhibiting at the 2024 International Biomass Conference & Expo on 4th – 6th March 2024, Richmond, Virginia, the largest biomass event in North America. Larry Berg, who heads up RJM’s USA operation is presenting a paper entitled “CFD modelling of Typical Biomass Combustion Systems” in Room E24AB at 1.00pm on Wed. 6th March as part of the “Maximizing Combustion Conditions in Biomass Boilers” within Track 2, Biomass Power & Thermal. RJM is also exhibiting on Booth 532 with its partner IGS. https://2024-ibce.bbiconferences.com/ema/DisplayPage.aspx?pageId=Home Thanks to its innovative approach and its ability to analyse every aspect of plant performance, RJM is achieving ground-breaking results in terms of increased MWe outputs, improved reliability with greatly extended campaigns between outages, reduced emissions, reduced slagging and reduced fouling at biomass and Energy from Waste plants, no matter what the fuel, the combustion technology or the size of the plant. RJM is currently delivering this expertise and improving overall plant performance at a number of biomass and Energy from Waste plants in the UK, Italy, Sweden and North America, typically resolving a complex mix of Materials Handling, combustion, emissions and performance challenges.
At the Awards Dinner held last night (30th November 2023) at the NEC Hilton Metropole, RJM International jointly with its customer Evero won the “Highly Commended” award in the Industry Project category. The award submission demonstrated how RJM and Evero were able to achieve significant performance improvements at Evero’s Ince Bio Power site. This 24MWe EfW plant uses modern gasifier combustion technology and fires 170,000 tonnes of waste wood per annum. As a result of the joint project – which is still ongoing – sub-optimal combustion has been resolved and the plant has been returned to profitability. Commenting on being awarded “Highly Commended”, John Goldring, Managing Director of RJM said, “We have been working collaboratively with Evero at its Ince and Hull plants for over three years now and have delivered a series of plant improvements across materials handling, fuel feed systems and combustion, including the installation of two new OverFire Air systems. This award recognises the success of these projects and confirms that complex gasifier combustion technology can be optimised, if one has the right CFD analytic tools and solid modelling and engineering experience – no matter what the fuel.”
RJM International has been awarded a major engineering burner upgrade project to improve the performance of Unit 3 at Zetes 2, a 615 MW utility power plant of Eren Enerji located at Zonguldak, Turkey. The plant work will focus on improving boiler efficiency, thermal performance and reducing emissions. Following a detailed site survey, combustion audit and associated CFD analysis, RJM developed an innovative solution which will include the provision of 24 bespoke RJM burners. The new equipment will be installed during the planned outage in spring / summer 2024. Commenting on the project win, Steve Billett, Head of Projects at RJM said, “Following on from the major de-NOx project we are working on in Kosovo, this win in Turkey once again confirms our technical expertise and our ability to devise innovative, combustion-focused solutions that deliver real and enduring performance improvements. I would like to thank everyone at RJM and Eren Enerji who have been involved in the project so far.” John Goldring, Managing Director at RJM commented, “We are delighted to secure this plant upgrade for Eren Enerji with a focus on reducing emissions, on an already highly efficient supercritical boiler. We have developed an excellent collaborative working relationship with the people at Eren Enerji and we look forward to completing a successful project”. Ömer Buğer, Deputy CEO at Eren Enerji added, “We are glad to collaborate with RJM for executing the improvement project based on combustion efficiency and lower emission levels. It is also in our plan to expand the project for our other units to continue sustainable and reliable power generation.” The Zetes stations consisting of 2,790 MW in total are all owned and operated by Eren Enerji, the leading power generation company with almost 7% of Turkish total electricity production, part of Eren Holding, a Turkish conglomerate. Today RJM is also delivering other performance upgrade projects at utility generators in the USA and Asia-Pacific, as well as at biomass and Energy from Waste facilities in the UK and Italy.
